Review Blogging 101

Welcome to the series called Review Blogging 101. It will be lovingly written by myself, Kristin. Today I posted another jewelry giveaway and someone asked me. “How is it that you get these reviews and giveaways, you always have the best” It was this question that has inspired me to tell all!
We won’t go into email details with this post I just wanted to start off with a few quick tips.
- Keep your emails short and sweet, when you get “pitched” by a PR Rep their emails aren’t long. They have valuable time and may get bored with your email. Give them all the basic info, most likely they already know how the review and giveaway process works. If they need further explanation, they’ll ask.
- In your email always have basic stats. I honestly don’t think anyone cares about a Technorati with all the agencies I’ve worked with not one has asked for it. The numbers you need to keep track of are monthly unique visitors and page views.
- If you have a blogging buddy ask around, maybe they can hook you up with a contact they have. No don't pass around your contact list! Ask them to share your info with the people they work with, find out if they are comfortable sharing info. Or sign up with us and we’ll get you on our list of shared contacts.
- Be creative! Have a party, celebrate your child’s first poop. Really, anything! It’s always nice to theme your posts in some ways. Makes it easy when contacting companies and makes it easier for you to post.
- We are already planning a HUGE summer event with all the latest toys. (our reviewers who have signed up with also be getting reviews) So if you do plan an event or party, or theme posts take time plan it.
- Remember don’t get frustrated, make friends in the blogsphere exchange banners, leave comments this will all come back to you ten fold! Trust me, I know!

so, this part might sound stupid, but how do we sign up with you? i signed up for the forum thing, am waiting for approval. is there another (easier b/c i belong to a local mom's group and am in charge of a lot of online stuff there) way to do it?
